Israeli demolitions in Biddu leave more than 100 people homeless

05 Nov 2026, 21:33 GMT · London
Israeli forces demolished five homes in Biddu in the occupied West Bank, residents say, displacing more than a hundred Palestinians. Locals say the raid came without warning after legal efforts failed to stop it.

Israeli forces have demolished five homes in the village of Biddu, northwest of Jerusalem in the occupied West Bank, displacing more than 100 Palestinians, according to residents and video news reports.

Ahmad Abu Eid, a Biddu resident, said troops raided the town without warning even after families tried to block the demolitions through legal channels. The loss of five houses in a single operation leaves extended families without shelter at the start of winter and adds to a wider pattern of home demolitions across the West Bank that rights groups monitor week by week.

Biddu sits in a sensitive belt northwest of Jerusalem where settlement expansion, road barriers and permit rules already squeeze Palestinian building. When homes come down faster than courts can freeze orders, the practical result is sudden displacement and pressure on relatives to absorb whole households.

The demolitions land in a charged political week in Israel, with President Isaac Herzog still hearing party leaders after an election that left Benjamin Netanyahu and Gadi Eisenkot short of a clear majority. West Bank policy is often a fault line between those camps and the Arab majority parties now courted as kingmakers.

For the families in Biddu the national coalition maths are remote. Their immediate needs are shelter, storage of salvaged belongings and a paper trail for any later claim. The public record so far is the five homes destroyed, the resident account of a sudden raid, and a displacement toll above one hundred people.
